Lucas Dornan wins the first event back in the sport, setting a blistering speed and huge distance!
Lucas Dornan, the former UK long-distance champion who set the world on fire back in 2016-17 and then stepped away from the sport due to injuries and tour closures during COVID-19, has come back with a huge bang!
Dornan said the sport has come full circle again with greater investments and profile and is back to where it was when he first entered it, so he felt the time was right to re-enter and see if he still had the ability to compete.
A tournament local to where he was on vacation was listed, so he entered to gauge how far off his best he was. Without expecting much, he managed to get into the mid-140s club speed, which was a bit far off his best when he became champion. He was also using very old technology with regard to shafts and a playing driver head, not a long-drive model!
Still, he managed to hit five shots over 400 yards and take the title. Based on this, he has rejoined the WLD tour and will be looking to compete in the next few months on the main stage again!
Lucas Dornan was the founder of LDWS, hosted tour events around the globe, and after speaking to 2-time world champion Joe Miller, a rival of Dornan when the two were fighting for titles worldwide, he claimed Dornan is good for the sport! His image, his abilities, and his personality bring eyes to the sport, and the more attention, the better when it comes to golf.
